Minot Main Street Minute: Ulta Beauty opens in the Magic City

MINOT, N.D. - Ulta Beauty is quickly expanding across the United States, and now the chain calls Minot home.

Ulta offers pretty much everything 'beauty' you could think of, from makeup, to nails, to a hair salon, to a skin bar and more.

“We take them on a tour of the store, walk them through the brands. We can actually put makeup on the skin. We try three different products on them,” said Amy Vigars, general manager.

It's their third North Dakota location, with stores in Fargo and Bismarck.

Vigars said they offer a wide array of products, from high-end to drug store brands.

“The grand opening was amazing. The line was wrapped around the corner to JC Penney's. There was over 250 people in line,” Vigars said.

Ulta also offers a brow bar, where customers can get the perfect shape, mold and color to their eyebrows and enhance their look.

“We actually sit down and take the time to customize your brows, so you get that perfect shape every time. It's not something you just go in and we just wax-wax, and you're out. It's something that we like to take a great time to do,” said Morgan Hamsher, stylist.

Ulta is a familiar name for many who move to North Dakota, like Lacey Wooden who came with her husband to the Magic City for the military.

“Out of all makeup stores, I feel like Ulta's the best just because they have more variety. It's nice just knowing that there's an Ulta here now that I can go to, and it still feels like I'm in a big town,” Wooden said.

Bringing a big-city feel to the Peace Garden State.

Ulta Beauty is located at 2400 10th Street SW, on the northeast end of the Dakota Square Mall.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
