Minot Main Street Minute: Mattress Firm, Creative Cabinetry

MINOT, N.D. - Mattress Firm has made it to Minot again. The national chain will open its second location in the Magic City in the old Zimmerman's Furniture building.

Mattress Firm has more than 3,500 in the United States, but the five in North Dakota are part of one of the few franchises left in the country, owned by Jason Sellers.

“We love this location, and we came in and we completely gutted it and remodeled it, so when you walk in the store, when you look at the front of the store, it looks like a brand new store that they just put up,” Sellers said.

They're planning a big sale too for their grand opening this Saturday, where shoppers could leave with a $5 mattress!

“Every bed will have anything from hundreds to thousands of dollars off its normal price--or, if you're on one of the beds that marked five bucks, you get to buy it for five bucks,” Sellers said.

Doors open Saturday at 8 a.m. After that, their regular hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays.

Sellers said that both locations in Minot will remain open.

Creative Cabinetry has moved.

Darla Ziegler and her husband bought the company two years ago. This is their second move, now located in the 20th Avenue Mall.

“I've always loved doing kitchens. I've started, this is about 17 years now for me. And I've always liked this line of work,” Ziegler said.

Creative Cabinetry offers cabinets, counter tops, tiling and much more. The new location gives the couple more than double the space.

“There's just repeat customers that come in, 20 years and say, 'It's time to redo the kitchen again,’” Ziegler said.

Creative Cabinetry is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
