MONTANA - The Montana Supreme Court has ruled that Marsy's Law will take effect July 1.

Organizers of the initiative had argued that the measure should take effect immediately. However, the Montana ACLU asked the state's high court to decide the issue.

The court ruled 5-0, citing a provision that says amendments take effect the first day of July unless otherwise stated.
