Mandan police say thank you to community

Mandan Police served the community in a different way Thursday night.

Officers grilled hundreds of hamburgers and hot dogs and gave them out for free. They also did a lot of chatting, while some played kickball with kids.

And it was all about saying thank you.

“This is something that we should do, the people should know their police department, they should know their officers, the kids should not be afraid to come up to a police officer and ask them for help or questions,” Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler said. “So it's a good community building event.”
