MANDAN, N.D. - A new authentic, German style restaurant is coming to Mandan. The downtown Mandan Depot is being restored to its original glory so it can house a beer hall.
Edgar Oliveira owns several restaurants in Mandan, and this project has been in the works for about two years. Since June, he's been renovating the Depot, restoring all the wood, the walls and the floors to what it originally looked like when it was a train station. Oliveira says the space won't be a run-of-the-mill bar, but more of a gathering space for the community.
"To me it’s a very social endeavor more so than any other restaurants that I have and the point of a beer hall of course has always been a place to gather and a place to have fun and to socialize,”said Oliveira.
Tuesday, the Mandan City Commission approved the business' liquor license. They'll be open for events later this month, and open to the public at the beginning of February.
