Man charged in Minot for fatal stabbing last summer pleaded not guilty

MINOT, N.D.- A man charged in a fatal stabbing in Minot last summer has pleaded not guilty.

The trial for Bradley Morales will move forward after his preliminary hearing Thursday.

Morales faces a double-A felony murder charge in the death of 25-year-old Sharmaine Leake.

Investigators say Morales stabbed Leake in the neck during an apparent domestic dispute.

She died six days later after her family took her off life support.

Morales was previously convicted for two felony charges back in 2013.

Morales responded “not guilty” when asked by the judge to answer for the charges.

Morales requested an expedited trial, which means he could be back in the courtroom as soon as late March or early April.
