MANDAN, N.D. - Morton County Sheriff’s Office administered Narcan for the first time Wednesday when a man overdosed on heroin.
The sheriff’s department received a call at 7:30 p.m. of a 26-year-old unconscious man on the north side of Mandan.
Deputies administered a dose of Narcan and the man was taken to a local hospital for treatment by Metro.
“This is the first time the Morton County Sheriff’s Office has had to administer Narcan, and we are grateful it was successful in reviving the subject,” said Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier in a press release Friday morning. “The deputies responding had only been issued their supply of Narcan earlier that day, so the timing was impeccable.”
Deputies also found prescription pills in the victim’s pocket that were taken into evidence.
