MAFB airman dies following Highway 83 crash near Ruthville

RUTHVILLE, N.D. – The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man seriously hurt in a crash on Highway 83 just north of Minot Thursday morning has died.

The patrol reports that 21-year-old William Buchanan, a native of Raleigh, N.C., stationed at Minot Air Force Base, succumbed to his injuries at Trinity Hospital.

The patrol says that Buchanan was headed south on 83 shortly before 10:45 Thursday morning. The driver of a semi headed westbound on County Road 8 failed to yield while crossing 83, and Buchanan drove into the semi on its passenger side.
