BISMARCK, N.D. - Lucky's Bar in Bismarck was a popular spot to watch the Kentucky Derby because it's the only place you can bet on the ponies in Western North Dakota.
It was the first of the triple crown horse races, which means this is the first of three big parties at the popular bar.
The event includes games and prizes, and has experts in house to help teach people about betting on horse races.
"People have been coming in all week to get in on the derby action. People were betting all day yesterday and today we had a full house," said Mike Schmitz, General Manager, North Dakota Horse Park in Fargo.
Upwards of $30,000 have been bet on the derby in the last two days.
The next triple crown race is May 20 at Preakness.
