BISMARCK, ND - While lawmakers battle in the House and Senate chambers regularly, Monday they took their competition to the hoops.

The Capitol Classic brought together teams of legislators, lobbyists and media to compete, all while raising money for Special Olympics North Dakota.

Organizers say the event not only brought people of all ideologies together, it also raised over $6,000 for a good cause.

"Sport has the power to change people. It has universal language. We all play basketball the same. We all have the same rules and it teaches fundamentals on how to live in life," says Kathleen Meagher, Special Olympics North Dakota.

The lobbyist team took first place, while the capitol press corps finished in last.
