BISMARCK, N.D. - Friday marked a major break in the case of Bismarck-born Army veteran Julia Jacobson. What was a missing persons case, now a murder investigation.
Police arrested Julia's ex-husband, Dalen Ware. They say the two were in contact, up until her disappearance.
Jacobson was last seen on surveillance video September 2nd in Ontario California.
A short time later, her car was discovered near her home in San Diego.
Detectives say intensive forensic testing of the car led them to believe she was murdered.
Now they say, they have reason to believe she and her ex-husband were together the day she went missing.
“We're trying to piece together how they happened to both be together in our city, and what their movements were days leading up to their meeting,” said Ontario Police Detective Melissa Ramirez, adding they’re trying to determine, “What happened the day that Julia was murdered, and obviously what he did with her, and himself afterward?"
Police say Ware will be booked for murder, and the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought.
At this time, detectives have not found the remains of Julia or her dog.
