Judge agrees to continuance in Minot murder case

MINOT, N.D. - A judge has agreed to continue proceedings until next month for a Florida man charged in a November 2015 murder in Minot.

Twenty-six-year-old Johnny Norwood, Jr., is accused of fatally shooting 30-year-old Roger Falana in a downtown Minot alley.

Norwood's attorney Misty Nehring requested the continuance Wednesday, saying she needed more time to go through the evidence in the case.

Norwood fled the state following the incident, and was arrested by Las Vegas police last July.

He faces felony charges of murder, attempted murder and reckless endangerment and is also accused of shooting another person who survived.

Norwood remains in custody in Minot on a $2 million bond, and will appear again in court Feb. 15.

He faces the chance of life in prison without parole if convicted.
