BISMARCK, N.D. - Road construction season is still three months away, and already 2019 is shaping up to be a busy year.
I-94 from Highway 25 to Grant Marsh Bridge, and Bismarck Expressway to South Washington Street will undergo major construction.
The proposed plan is a preventive maintenance project that will consist of concrete pavement repair, mill and hot mix asphalt overlay, bridge deck overlays and bridge deck replacements.
"It's very important. We want to extend the life of the roadway so that we can avoid doing a major reconstruction early. We can postpone reconstruction and pavement by keeping up with the maintenance," said James Rath, Program Manager.
The project will cost $11 million.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation is hoping to start construction in the fall of 2019, pending funding for the project.
