DICKINSON, N.D. - As he tunes his guitar, just like he's done thousands of times before, Roman Sanchez reflects on how a friend tried to talk him out of moving to Dickinson.
"He told me he was from this area. Roman I don't know if you can it because sometimes you are going driving miles and miles and you won't get other cars coming. But no I love it, I love it very much,” said Sanchez.
He loves it so much that he decided to write a song about the city he has called home for the last three years. Sanchez moved to the United States from Mexico in the 1970s. After living in cities like San Francisco and Baltimore, he wanted to go to a smaller town.
"And what I like is that people, is like I say very friendly, very down to earth. Most of the people are very down to Earth. So that's catchy," said Sanchez.
Sanchez says it was the people of Dickinson who were the inspiration for his song. People he hopes to be around for many years to come. In his 40 plus years living throughout the United States, Dickinson will probably be his final stop.
