BISMARCK, N.D. - A North Dakota teacher’s first day of school turned into an even better day.

The $100,000 Powerball with Power Play prize from Saturday’s draw was claimed Tuesday. The winner is Ruth Pederson of Grand Forks.

Ruth said she had a wonderful first day in the classroom Monday and realized she had yet to check her ticket from the Saturday draw. When she got home she checked her ticket.

“It was the perfect start to the school year! I couldn’t have asked for a better start, now I need to figure out what I am going to do with the money. I think it’s time for a little remodeling project on the house," said Pederson.

The Powerball jackpot for the August 31 draw is $154 million.
