Fire code safety

MINOT, N.D. - Last Friday 36 people lost their lives to a devastating fire in Oakland. It is said to be one of the most devastating fires in Oakland's history.

The cause of the fire still remains unknown.

After the incident, Minot Fire Department has shared some tips about fire code safety.

"Fire codes are in place to keep everybody safe. They're put in place because of the history of events that have happened over time and things that are known to keep people safe. All of the codes are in place to keep people safe," says Lonnie Sather, Minot Fire Department Battalion Chief.

Battalion Chief Sathers adds if you see things out of the ordinary or know there's a problem with your building or home you should contact the landlord or fire department.
