WISHEK, N.D. - The National Transportation and Safety Board has released its final report for a plane crash that killed three people in Wishek in June of 2016.

Initial reports from the NTSB said the plane's nose had a high altitude and entered a right turn before crashing into a lake near the Wishek Airport.

In the final report the NTSB says the probable cause of the accident was the pilot's failure to maintain adequate airspeed during a climbing turn after takeoff, which resulted in the plane exceeding its critical angle of attack and an aerodynamic stall.

The board also says the pilot's self-induced pressure to quickly transport his cousin for urgent dental care was a contributing factor.
