Escaped inmate taken into custody after armed standoff in Mandan

MANDAN, N.D. - UPDATE: Mandan Police confirmed that the man they pursued Monday morning is 35-year-old William Rawson, who the McLean County Sheriff's department reported missing from their jail Sunday morning.

Lt. Pat Haug with the Mandan Police Department says Rawson is now in custody at Morton County Detention Center.

Police surrounded a trailer home at the Twin City Trailer Court for several hours Monday.

Haug says Rawson escaped from the home and climbed a tree.

After sometime, Rawson came down from the tree without incident.


ORIGINAL STORY: The inmate that escape from the McLean County Jail Sunday morning was taken into custody Monday afternoon after barricading himself in a trailer home in Mandan.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the West Dakota Swat Team, responded to what turned out to be a standoff.

A robot and other tactics were used to get the suspect to surrender.
