DUNN COUNTY, N.D. - Dunn County Sheriff Clay Coker has announced that he will not seek reelection as sheriff and retire at the end of his term.

"It has been a great honor and privilege to lead such a fine group of men and women in this most difficult and dangerous profession. You have my utmost respect and thanks for a job well done; especially in a time in history when it has been the most difficult to serve in law enforcement," said Coker.

In an email to his staff, Coker stated: It has been a great honor and privilege to lead such a fine group of men and women in this most difficult and dangerous profession. You have my utmost respect and thanks for a job well done; especially in a time in history when it has been the most difficult to serve in law enforcement.

Sheriff Coker was elected to the position in November 2014 and his term will end Dec. 31.
