MINOT N.D. - If you've ever stripped or damaged a screw, you know how frustrating it can be to remove it, but in this week's Don't Buy It Until We Try It we try a product that claims to remove that screw in seconds.
"Let's try the SpeedOut," said Jeff Emmert, product tester.
First we drilled out the damaged area of the screw.
Then we flip the SpeedOut over and use the other end to pull the screw right out, or so we thought.
"And as you see it's not working," said Emmert.
The tool has a great idea behind it.
"Getting the screws that the heads get messed up on and you have to drill them out, this would be a whole lot easier than drilling the whole thing out when you can just extract it out the way a screws supposed to come out," said Emmert.
But it wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
"I’d give it a thumbs down because it didn't even move the screw," said Emmert.
The speed out sells for about $10 and if you have any ideas for my next "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It" feel free to send me a message on Facebook or email me at email@example.com.
