MINOT, N.D. - Speakers from across the country headed to the Magic City Monday to discuss the cost of flood protection with Minot leaders.
These creative finance meetings, which were organized last October by Sen. John Hoeven, R-N.D., are aimed at helping local leaders find was to finance flood control for the city of Minot and the rural areas surrounding the Souris River Basin.
The speakers are sharing what they have learned in their field or city about disaster, how to recover and prevent it in the future.
“No matter what it is resiliency is a huge thing. And we are learning off one another. That's what is great about bringing people from all across the country, different agencies and private sector, municipalities and states. We are learning together. As we learn we are sharing information with one another that helps us as a country become more resilient,” said Minot City Manager Tom Barry.
The meetings will continue throughout Tuesday.
