BISAMRCK, N.D. - In June, the Dakota Access Pipeline came online giving North Dakota an increase in pipeline capacity.
According to the North Dakota Pipeline Authority, the forecast shows by early or mid 2020's, the Williston Basin Oil Production will be back in the position exceeding pipeline capacity. This will increase other needs, as well.
"We're going to be looking at a situation of additional transportation needs out of the region. Whether that's met by a new pipeline project, an expanded pipeline, part of the use of rail. The market will decide that going forward," said Justin Kringstad.
The Dakota Access Pipeline is not yet under full capacity, but other companies are competing for market share.
