Community rallies to support families of victims in Strawberry Lake accident

MCLEAN COUNTY, N.D. – Loved ones have set up fundraisers to support the families of the two young victims in an accident Saturday on Strawberry Lake.

The McLean County Sheriff’s office says an unmanned jet ski struck two girls riding a tube that was being pulled by a boat on the lake.

One of the girls died Sunday at a hospital in Minnesota, and the other continues to recover from a series of injuries.

Boaters are planning a tribute for the victims on Strawberry Lake on Sat., June 16 at 2 p.m., where the boats will gather at the north side of the lake and observe a moment of silence before blasting their horns ten times.

There will also be a fundraising lunch and silent auction for the families at the association building at Strawberry Lake on Sat., June 30 at 1 p.m.
