City of Williston hosts Fill the Boot fundraiser

WILLISTON, N.D. - Wednesday is the annual Fill the Boot campaign in Williston.

Last year, the community donated $10,000 to help North Dakota kids who are suffering from muscular diseases attend summer camp in Minnesota. This year, the department is expanding the event to reach more people.

Firefighters will be at Cash Wise from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday and at Walt's Market on University and 11th and the intersection of 16th and 26th in the evening.

"We think that 16th and 26th is going to grab that whole western part of town and give us that whole new interaction with a bunch of new people that we haven't met before. Again, if we don't raise an extra dollar, that's okay, but the people we'll meet out there and build relationships with will be worth it," said Chief Jason Catrambone, Williston Fire Department.

"We couldn't do it without the dedication of firefighters. I always say when I come to Williston 'Williston Loves it's firefighters.' So we just really appreciate everything that they do. And I think the community likes knowing that the money does stay local," says Sue Wiger, Area Director, MDA.

Last year North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota raised more than $100,000.
