City of Minot assumes control of parking structures

MINOT, N.D. – The City of Minot says it has assumed management responsibility of a pair of downtown parking structures at the center of an ongoing dispute with a developer.

The City Council voted in March to end its agreement with Cypress Development, LLC, claiming that the developer owed more than a quarter of a million dollars in unpaid rent. At the time the developer contended it had been working in "good faith" negotiations with the city.

The city will offer free parking for the next month at both the Central and Renaissance Parking ramps.

The city says that the gates at the structures will remain open, and current parking pass holders will be credited with one month of free parking.
