City of Mandan works on plan to prevent stormwater runoff from flooding streets

MANDAN, N.D. - The city of Mandan is implementing a plan to stop rainfall from flooding streets after major summer storms.

North of Main Street, Collins Avenue, near Faris Field and the city's ball complex, the streets become impassable after heavy rainfall, says City Engineer Justin Froseth.

The plan aims to create a regional pond system to keep large bodies of rainfall off streets and to speed up the paperwork for builders submitting stormwater plans to the city.

The city is negotiating a contract with Houston Engineering to draft the plan.
