CHI St. Alexius Health to eliminate 25 positions in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. - CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck has announced it will lay off 25 more employees.

The company says it's trying to streamline its hospital operations and restructure workforce.

CHI says the restructure is due to two factors, first; a changing health care delivery system and second, declining reimbursement from third party systems. CHI says no further hospital-wide layoffs planned.

“We would never implement anything that would impact our ability to provide patient care. These are labor best practices, these are what hospitals across the United States have been using for years, we've just been late to implement them. We are committed to providing quality care,” said Kurt Schley, president of CHI St. Alexius.

CHI says they are not in discussions to merge with Sanford Health at this time.
