Bowbells man accused of raping, assaulting woman in Minot hotel

MINOT, N.D. - Minot police have arrested a Bowbells man on accusations that he raped and assaulted a woman he had met on Backpage in a hotel room earlier this month.

Prosecutors have charged 28-year-old Scott Flood with AA-felony gross sexual imposition and C-felony aggravated assault.

Court records indicate that Minot police responded to the hotel shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Feb. 19 for a reported assault.

The woman told investigators she met Flood at the hotel for sex, but when she asked him to leave after an hour, he became aggressive, pushed her to the bed, and choked her from behind.

She told investigators he then proceeded to rape her, before fleeing the hotel room through a window.

Investigators say the woman identified Flood by his driver’s license after he left his wallet in the room.

Flood made his initial appearance Monday on the charges and will be back in court for his preliminary hearing and arraignment April 5.

He remains in custody in the Ward County Jail.
