Bismarck homeowner fends off thieves with baseball bat

BISMARCK, N.D. - Two Mandan men were arrested for attempting to burglarize a Bismarck home. The homeowner threatened them away with bat.

The homeowner said the suspects shattered the driver’s window of his Toyota Tundra Saturday night.

Officers say 26-year-old Luke Lindley and 24-year-old Jaden Rhodes were trying to get into the home by attempting to breakdown the front door.

When they were unsuccessful, they went to the back of the home and found an unlocked porch door that lead to a locked basement door.

One suspect motioned his hand in his sweatshirt pocket toward the victim pretending to have a gun.

The victim asked them to leave. When they didn’t comply, he threatened them with a small bat.

They were arrested by police when they came out.

One of the victims was barricaded with her three children in a bedroom.

Officers said both suspects were under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

They were both arrested for criminal mischief and criminal trespass.
