BISMARCK, N.D. - A dream finally came true for the community of St. Gabriel's in Bismarck. The facility expanded its senior housing to accommodate to all of their guests.
St. Gabriel's expansion added a full spectrum of services for seniors, which already includes long-term skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation and outpatient therapy.
Residents of St. Gabriel's Community enjoy celebrating milestones together, like Ruth and Henry Keller, who are celebrating 71 years of marriage Friday.
After 71 years living by themselves, it was time for them to move into an assisted living and basic care community.
"It's unbelievable that they can do all these things for us and provide our spiritual needs and just everything we need," said Ruth.
"Good food, oh my gosh, they take good care of a person," said Henry.
Now those special moments have been enhanced at the facility. St. Gabriel's $25 million expansion added features like a chapel, a physical therapy room, and a Bistro, which is even open to the public.
"We've changed that norm, and that's exciting for the community, for our staff, but for me as a leader, to really see them thrive in an environment that no one's really thought about before," said CEO and administrator Tyler Hoemberg.
The expansion was the largest building investment in the state by the Benedictine Health System.
