BISMARCK, N.D. - The Bismarck City Commission finalized the 2017 budget for the city Tuesday.
City commissioners say public safety is a top priority when budgeting, and street and highway projects will receive nearly $23 million in funding.
Police Special Funds include more than $96,000 for Drug Enforcement. Bismarck Police are also receiving funds for evidence storage and other improvements.
"Looking a bit at how we police and changing that aspect of it, and how to make them more visible at the appropriate times and being present across the community. Not that they haven't done their darnest with what they have. But we've gotten stretched, as we've talked already about how our community has grown," says Josh Askvig, Bismarck City Commission.
