Bill would prevent adults from sexting minors, sending unsolicited inappropriate pictures

BISMARCK, N.D. - A bill before the state Senate would prevent adults from sending sexually explicit images to kids.

It would also prevent adults from sending unwanted inappropriate pictures to another adult.

Under North Dakota law, there aren't laws specifically preventing this.

A Fargo lawmaker introduced the bill after a woman says a man sent an unsolicited nude picture to 500 pictures, mostly minors, including her underage daughter.

"I want to keep our kids safe. My children tell me things, but not all kids do. There were 62 that didn't go to their parents, and I'm sure there might have been more as well," said Danette Nicoloff, mother.

Nicoloff says the man was indicted, but this law would make the crime easier to prosecute.
