Williston city officials were in Watford City today to help promote a sense of community between the two towns. They hosted a free barbecue at the McKenzie County Heritage Park.
"It's important that neighboring cities, especially where we live, in the situations that we find ourselves in in Williston and the region, that we understand that we're kind of all in this together whether it's good times or whether it's bad times," said Justin Maddison, Williston Regional Economic Development.
"I think it's great when you have communities come together in kind of informal settings, because it leads to, these informal connections lead to more formal connections whether its business, whether it's just opportunities," said Daniel Stenberg, director of McKenzie County Heritage Park.
"I don't see any reason why not to, I mean we all should come together. There's wide open spaces in North Dakota so the better you can get to know the town north or south of you, why not," said Watford City resident Dustin Harper.
Williston is hoping to have more of these events in the future.
