UPDATE: Missing 1-year-old found near Ellendale

UPDATE: June 30, 3 p.m. Search and rescue crews tell Valley News Live the child has been found and is being taken to an ambulance.

After an almost five hour search, a missing one-year-old boy is safe in his mother's arms.

Dickey County Emergency officials have confirmed to Valley News Live that the little boy was found near a river.

Sharon Ulmer, with Dickey County Emergency Services says a man was on his way to help with the search and saw a, 'little white head', near the river.

Ulmer tells us that two planes, two drones, over 100 people, and several county police showed up to help with the search.

"That we need to develop a plan if anything like this happens. And hopefully this was our warning and we can develop a plan," says Dickey County Emergency Services.


An air and ground search is underway near Ellendale, North Dakota for a missing one-year-old.

Dickey County Emergency Services Director, Charlie Russell, tells Valley News Live the child was reported missing around 11:30 a.m. June 30.

Russell says the search area is near the North Dakota-South Dakota border in the Van Meter Township, southeast of Ellendale.

Emergency responders from Ellendale and the surrounding area are involved in the search as well as pilots with private aircraft.
