Author stops in Bismarck after including Bis-Man area in new book

BISMARCK, N.D. - The Bismarck-Mandan area is being featured in a new book.

"Rollin' Down the River" is based on author Larry Campbell's seven-week trip from the source of the Missouri River in Montana to where it empties into the Mississippi near St. Louis. Campbell spent three days in central North Dakota.

He says Fort Mandan was one place that he really was able to see what Lewis and Clark experienced when they traveled the area.

"That's one of two places on the entire river that I really felt what a gritty crew Lewis and Clark were so that was fascinating to me,” said Campbell.

Campbell says he also spent time exploring Fort Abraham Lincoln as well as driving around the capital city.
