Arrest warrant issued for California man in White Earth rape case

WHITE EARTH, N.D. - A judge has issued a bench warrant for a California man accused of raping a woman in White Earth, N.D., last July, after he failed to show up to court Thursday.

State prosecutors say that 45-year-old James Douglas forced a woman to perform a sex act on him in an apartment near a crew camp in White Earth.

The woman also suffered injuries on her wrist and shoulder.

Douglas faces AA-felony charge of gross sexual imposition and an A-misdemeanor charge of assault.

Douglas would face the chance of life in prison without parole on the gross sexual imposition charge if convicted.
