MINOT, N.D. - The annual North Central Veterans Stand Down is taking place Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Armed Forces Reserve Center from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The event is open to veterans, service members and their families. The event aims to reconnect service members to different benefits they have earned. Veteran Service Director at Minot State University, Andy Heitkamp, says there will be a variety of different services and information stations available.
“A lot of different things, from Fargo VA to medical assistance. There will be different service organizations, family assistance, haircuts. They will have the opportunity to get their flu shot. So a wide variety of services available to the service members,” said Heitkamp.
Not only will service members have opportunities to take advantage of these exclusive benefits, but all attendants will be treated to a free warm meal sponsored by Homesteaders. Volunteers looking to participate in the event should contact military outreach specialist Kelli Weiand.
