Minot Alderman Shaun Sipma has announced his intentions to run for mayor in 2018.
Sipma's announcement comes a day after current Mayor Chuck Barney announced he would not seek re-election next year, citing a desire to pursue other opportunities.
Citizens elected Sipma last year in the midst of the #MakeMinot movement, where the council shrunk down from 14 members to six at-large.
Sipma currently works in insurance in Minot, and previously worked in television news. He is also deeply involved with the group Farm Rescue.
