MINOT, N.D. - Akili the Okapi is ready for visitors at Minot's Roosevelt Park Zoo.
The exhibit is the zoo's first winter-friendly viewing area, in which visitors from all ages can enjoy the 17-year-old male from another AZA accredited zoo in Florida. Staff members say they are excited for people to visit such a unique animal.
“We're very excited for people to come see him. He has a beautiful viewing window so he can be viewed year-round, which is also unique to his exhibit. He really loves meeting people, so people will be happy to see him up at the window throughout the winter," said Allison Suda, African Hoofstock Lead Keeper.
If you'd like to visit Akili and the Roosevelt Park zoo, the hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
