79-year-old Bismarck woman falls victim to phone scam

BISMARCK, N.D. - A 79-year-old has fallen victim to a scam worth thousands of dollars.

On June 22 the Bismarck woman got a call from a company saying they wanted to refund the $200 she spent on an anti-virus software for her computer.

The scammers ended up depositing $10,000 into her account by accident.

But then, she was asked to return all that money in gift cards and other monetary forms, which totaled $17,400.

The case has been sent to the state's attorney general's office.
