2-week Williston murder trial delayed due to request filed by defense

WILLISTON, N.D. - A two-week murder trial in Williston has been delayed. Lamar Putney was scheduled to stand trial next month after being charged with two counts of murder.

Documents filed late last week show the defense asked for the delay. They say they need more time to process additional evidence presented by the state.

Prosecutors did not object to pushing the proceedings back and a judge signed off on the decision Thursday.

The document says the court will reschedule the trial to the soonest available date which will accommodate a two-week jury trial. As of now, there is no indication as to when that might be.
