"Jake is the guy you see once in a lifetime," said senior center Jesse Kubik.
"He makes everybody else better," said coach Gregg Grinsteinner.
Those are just some of the things teammates and coaches say about Volk.
"Ever since I was a little kid watching my cousins play at Trinity and it has been a good motivator to go and play for them," Volk said.
Volk is the co-captain for the Titans. The senior has become a leader on the Titans team, earning all-district, all-region, and all-state accolades. Volk credits his work off the court in bringing his game to such a high level.
"I think it`s just working out in the off-season, lifting, agility workouts, all of it come in to play."
"He can play defense, he can shoot, he can jump out of the gym. Having him on your team you don`t even want to guard him," Kubik said.
"The thing is, he is so talented on the offensive end. He can post you up. He can score from the three point line. He can beat you off the dribble," Grinsteinner said.
Volk averaged 18 points per game last season, helping his team reach the Region 7 final where they lost to eventual state champion Beulah. But it was the year before which brought the 6` 3" guard`s most memorable moment playing for the Titans.
"Sophomore year, winning our region, getting past Heart River and playing in state was fun."
That year`s team also lost to eventual state champion North Star. Volk`s goal before he graduates is to return the Titans back to the state tournament and do something no Trinity team has done since 1996.
"This year I hope we can get out of Region 7. Win that championship and make some noise at state, maybe come out of there with a state championship."
In his spare time, Volk says he enjoys shooting around and playing video games. His goal is to become a physical therapist or personal trainer after college.
