Sports Spotlight on Kelsey Glatt | Video

Scott Westerburg | 6/20/2012

Kelsey Glatt is no longer a high school athlete. Her final event was the Optimist All-Star Volleyball match last night. Volleyball is the sport that she plans to play in college. As a Patriot, Glatt was busy during every season.

In the spring, winter and fall, Glatt was wearing the red, white and blue of Century High School. It`s a hectic schedule she got used to a long time ago.

"Probably about third grade is when I started playing basketball, soccer and volleyball at the Y."

Glatt stayed with all three sports all the way through her senior season. A season highlited by the Patriots title on the basketball floor.

"Being in the championship game is a different atmosphere than any other game and it`s just great to feel the people in the crowd supporting you and it`s just a great feeling."

Individually, her greatest feeling in sports may be something accomplished with her foot.

"Because you have to work so hard to get it all the way up the field and past everyone and even if it as long as it goes into the back of the net you`re good. You`re happy and it`s just so rare scoring not everyone does it."

But when it comes to picking a preferred sport, Glatt says that`s an easy one.

"I`ve always been a volleyball girl since I was little. Just my favorite sport`s in volleyball because I like the feeling of getting a big block or a big kill for the team."

A pair of her Patriot teammates also played on her side in the All-Star games.

"She`s the definition of an athlete. Any sport it just comes to her. She has that competitor mode and I think it`s amazing to watch her go to soccer and basketball and volleyball, she`s just a pure athlete, she can transfer to all of them," said A.J. Jacobs.

"You can rely on her no matter if it`s passing, setting or anything, she`s always there to help you and great teammate," said Casey Reamann.

Helping Century win in three different sports is a time consuming process, but that`s not to say Glatt is all sports, all of the time.

"I like to read. I like to read a lot of books and I like to go fishing with my brother, my little brother."

Glatt and Reamann will be teammates again in college at Bismarck State. Glatt plans to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.
