West Region Champion | Video

A team from the Capital City won the West Region girls basketball tournament title. I don`t think that surprised anyone, but many were probably picking the Patriots.

The Demons won the championship and they`re the number one seed for the Super A. Bismarck beat Century 49-46 on Saturday.

"This past weekend we did really well on defense and played together. I think our defense got us going and motivated and just helped with our offense," said Bismarck guard Rylee Meier.

"We practiced well. We always say if we practice well we play well. We had a real nice week of practice, every practice the kids came prepared and ready to not only play hard but think hard and I think that carried over into our tournament," said Bismarck head coach Dallas Hinderer.

The victory means the Demons will face Wahpeton in the opening round. The Huskies are 10-12 and I asked Hinderer about them yesterday.

"Not a team that I know a lot about but I had a chance yesterday to watch some film on them and they are a deserving of being there. They play real hard. They seem like a team that`s really well coaches. They like to run their sets and you can tell they run them to perfection and they get after it defensively so it`s a nice matchup for us," Hinderer said.

A match-up that will be the third game on Thursday.
