Trinity Boys Reach State | Video

| 3/4/2013

It used to finish the high school basketball season but now the Class B boys is the first of the three state tournaments. It starts on Thursday in Minot.

One of the more intriguing regions was seven. Top ranked and defending champion Beulah had a 39 game winning streak stopped by Trinity. The Titans only two losses this year are to the Miners but their last game was the big game.

"I was smiling the whole time," said Alex Binstock. "It was a dream come true since I knew what the state tournament was I`ve been dreaming about it and it came true."

"Exciting just knowing that we pulled it off and that we`re going to the state tournament and now we have a good chance of winning a state title," added Isiah Binstock.

"We just felt we accomplished everything that we`ve been working for the last year. We did a lot in the off-season that came into play in that win," said senior Jacob Volk.

It was a 64-52 win over the Miners in the Region 7 title game. Next up for Trinity is a first round match-up against LaMoure-Litchville-Marion. The Titans know they`ll have one advantage over the Loboes.

"Size, starting with me and Isiah and Jacob Volk there is not a lot of other teams that have our size and we got speed, we can shoot, rebound I feel like we have all that we need and I`m confident in us," explained Jesse Kubik.

"We just need to follow our own roles, play defense and rebound and do all the little things right," added Jacob Good. "If we don`t then we`re just an average team."

The Titans and Loboes will play the first game on Thursday at the Minot State Dome. This is Trinity`s 10th appearance at the B. The school has two titles in 2004 and 2006.
