Knife Leads U-Mary to Sweep | Video

Lee Timmerman | 2/25/2013

The University of Mary women`s basketball team locked up the number two seed in the North Division after a sweep this past weekend, and a big reason why was the play of Shaunna Knife. The senior from Bottineau was named the Northern Sun player of the week after averaging 21.5 points and more than seven rebounds a game against MSU-Moorhead and Northern State.

Knife had a career high 24 points against the Dragons and also had seven blocks on the weekend.

"That`s why we`re winning our games because we`re working inside-out, and Shaunna`s doing a great job down there, and we`re trying to bring a lot of traffic to the middle so we can kick out to our guards and they`re able to score," said Marauders senior forward Shanara Clark.

U-Mary opens up the Northern Sun Conference Tournament on Wednesday at home against Upper Iowa. The Marauders beat the Peacocks by nine in early January on a game we televised on NBC North Dakota Sports.
