There is a waiting list to enter this tournament and while the staff makes the lane conditions more difficult, Jim Mellon expects some excellent scores posted.
"A lot of guys are shooting a 225 average. There`s tons of 300s on their resume, 800 series so you`ll see the best there is in five states this weekend."
The tournament is an excellent blend of younger bowlers and exceptional veterans. Plus, they all bring a unique style to the lanes.
"We got some who will be there with two hands like Jason Belmonte does on the national tour. He spins it with two hands and it`s like 1,100 RPMs, so when he hits the pins they almost pulverize them. You got the old guys like Jack Nelson and them they are getting a little older their speed is not quite there and they`re head up on the ball but they take these young guys to task a lot of times," Mellon said.
Jim is quick to point out that five veterans made the stepladder finals last year.
We invite you to watch the final five this Sunday beginning at noon right here on NBC North Dakota Sports.
