Being under a new coaching staff has done nothing but good for the Bismarck Blizzard this season. Bismarck is currently in third in the girls statewide hockey standings and are 13-2 in its past 15 games.

Annie Cashman is in her first season as head coach leading an all-female staff. For many Blizzard players, it`s first time they have had a all-women`s coaching staff, but they say is has its advantages.

"I think having all female coaching staff is nice for us. were able to relate to our coaches and us to them too so its nice for us to put ourselves in their place," said senior Haleigh Springan.

"They`ve been in our position. they played high school hockey so they can be put in our shoes, we can relate to them we can talk to them about stuff more I think," said senior Brianna Flynn.

"From a coaching standpoint, we have a really good pulse on the team, we know the girls and we kind of know when drama is coming and I think the three of us do a better job of communicating what we see a little bit more than a male coach cuz we`ve been there and seen it ourselves," Cashman said.

The Blizzard have just a handful of games remaining til the state tournament and players say their team is as deep as any in North Dakota.

"A lot of teams on in the state have two lines that they run when we play them. we can rely on our third line. we could put anyone out there and rely on em when we put em out. and speed I think were a lot faster than other teams as well," Flynn said.

The Blizzard are at Williston tonight.
