Most basketball teams would be happy with five wins in their first six games. The Shiloh Christian girls fit into that category and I`m guessing the Skyhawks are comfortable with the start. A solid start is not a big surprise for Shiloh. It returns a number of players including the top two scorers from a team that finished fourth at the "B".

"Paige Emmel and Mikayla Forness are back. They`ve been all-region the last couple of years and they`re going to be our leaders. They`ll lead us in scoring and in most categories and more importantly than anything they are going to be our mental leaders in the huddle and in the locker room and so far they`ve done a great job in the past and I`m hoping they can do it in the future too," said coach Jim Petrik.

"We ultimately want to get back to state this year and we have a lot of girls who can play varsity and a lot of girls that did play varsity last year even if it was just a couple minutes so that experience and that younger talent is really going to help us this year," said senior Mikayla Forness.

Petrik also says that experience and the Skyhawks athletic ability will help his team play with a quicker tempo.

"I think we`ll be able to push the ball and keep a faster offense and be really aggressive on defense that`s going to be one and also we have a lot of girls who have played a lot together and I think that`s going to help with our teamwork too," Forness said.

The Skyhawks play Washburn on Friday and Mott-Regent in the Shootout on Saturday. Their much anticipated contest against Grant County is next week on the 17th.
