They kind of have been in the shadow the last two or three years. We had some really good players the last two-three years and now this year`s seniors, Taylor Zentner, Jonah Honeyman, Logan Haberstroh, Jacob Greff and Mark Steiner, they`re really to create their their own identity and so it`s going to be a fun year for us," said Mott-Regent head coach Wayne Heckaman.
The Wildfire will not overwhelm you with size so there is one aspect of the game they have to really focus on.
"We`re not as tall as we have been in the past so this year`s team; we really have to focus on the rebounding effort getting good offensive and defensive boards. And so that will help control some aspects of our game. Looking ten games down the road, rebounding is going to be a key and that is going to spark some offense and obviously some defense too," Heckaman said.
Mott-Regent`s schedule is a little different this season. The Wildfire are going to face some new opponents.
"This year we added Hazen. We added Shiloh and Washburn this year and so all of those are new teams to our schedule but we always look forward to Trinity coming down to our place, Heart River and Bowman all these are good quality teams and to it`s exciting to be part of that atmosphere and look forward to having some quality teams and some quality play," Heckaman said.
The Washburn game is part of the Civic Center Jamboree on Saturday. They take on New England tomorrow.
